Uphill
Uphill is a compelling addition to anyone’s book collection and is an inconceivable but remarkable true story. Geoffrey has intelligently crafted a story that draws the reader into his life and the horrifying events that unfold. It is a human study of love and betrayal, suffering and strength, courage and hope.
Geoffrey picks out parts of his past and develops this antihero character. He builds up his self-made life and travels the world, adding English humour and sarcasm. The emotions are wrapped in detailed honesty and truths as his life comes crashing down, forced into devastating and chronic circumstances which would have finished off most people. Somehow, through thirteen left knee surgeries, a precedent-setting divorce, a forest fire that destroyed his new neighbourhood, jail, businesses, international travel and unfathomable cycling heroics, he was able to sustain a life that even left the renowned medical profession stunned.
Uphill is claimed by many to be one of the best books they have ever read. It is a remarkable story, not because he wrote it, but because he lived it, and Survived.
